Newsnomics AJAY ANGELINA reporter | A Russian delegation has arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday January 17,

for three days high-level inter-governmental meeting to discuss the modalities for Moscow’s supply of crude

oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) at discounted prices to Islamabad and also on the construction of $3 billion Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline (PSGP) project, according to official sources at the petroleum ministry.

The discussion is going to start on Wednesday. Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Minister for Commerce will lead the Pakis-

tani delegation in talks with the Russian delegation under the leadership of energy minister Nikolay Shulginov.

Pakistan minister of State for Petroleum Mussadiq Malik and other officials would also participate in the

session.

The two countries are expected to plan deals for cheap crude oil, petrol, diesel, and LNG while matters of

foreign investment and mutual trade. Crude oil and other products will be provided under a government-to-

government (G2G) arrangement. 

The IGC agenda focuses on bilateral cooperation in areas of trade and investment, finance, agriculture, energy, customs, industry, education, science and technology, information and communication technologies, communication, roads and postal service, and railways.

“Well-placed sources said that Pakistan and Russia may also announce the name of companies from both

countries who would further negotiate the commercial side of the bilateral agreements.”

Pakistan has procured $7.7 billion of energy products from the global market during the fiscal year.
