Newsnomics AJAY ANGELINA reporter | China's embassy In Pakistan has announced the temporary closure of the consular section for the information of the general public in a notice issued on its official website, which

has been effective since Monday, February 13. The closure will remain in place until further orders, according

to the announcement.

"Consular section of the Chinese embassy in Islamabad will be temporarily closed from February 13, 2023 

until further notice, due to technical issues," read the notice from the Embassy.

Currently, there is no information available on when the consular section will reopen.

Meanwhile, the government of China has also advised its citizens to be extremely cautious while staying in

Pakistan due to the security issues.

On Saturday, the foreign ministry of China issued an emergency evacuation notice late at night that Chinese

citizens may be at risk of high levels of security in Pakistan.

Chinese People are advised to call on 051-8496167 for emergency assistance in the matters of passport and

travel documents.

The Chinese government's announcement comes after a day when the government reiterated its resolve to

protect all Pakistani citizens and foreign nationals.

On February 12, a chair meeting in Gwadar, Pakistan was held regarding counter terrorism and security of

foreign nationals in the country. Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has directed authorities to take all possible

measures to ensure the safety of Pakistani and foreign nationals.

“The foolproof security will be provided to Chinese nationals working on various projects in Pakistan and any negligence will not be tolerated,” said minister Rana Sanaullah.
