3rd governmental joint crackdown on illegal immigrants

The Illegal immigrants caught during this crackdown period will face enforced eviction, re-entry ban and fine while illegal foreigners leave the country voluntary are exempt from fines and entry restrictions.

South Korean Ministry of Justice has announced the beginning of “3rd joint government crack down on illegal aliens” in parallel to the current implementing “Special Self-Advance System for illegal Foreigners.” 

 

 

The joint governmental crackdown enforcement period on undocumented foreigners will be for two months from started from October 10 to December 9, 2023.


The crackdown focusing areas will be the industries encroaching on people's jobs, businesses with a large number of illegal immigrants, habitual employers, foreigners working in entertainment establishments, illegal entry and employment brokers, foreigners illegally staying in the country related to foreign crime, will jointly be investigated by the ministries including  South Korean Ministry of Justice, National Police Agency, Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Korea Coast Guard.
 
The 3rd joint crackdown on illegal immigrants will take strict action against violations of residence order, expanding the skilled workforce and allowing legal foreign workers such as seasonal workers to come and enjoy the benefits with legal ways. This is to ensure that the system can be established smoothly for the further developments.

 The Ministry of justice has plan to take strict measures such as forced eviction and re-entry ban as well as imposement of heavy fines to the illegal foreigners caught during this joint crackdown period.

 

On the other hand, illegal foreigners who voluntarily leave the country using the currently operating special voluntary departure system are exempt from fines and entry restrictions.


“It is our government’s basic policy to flexibly expand legal stay and strictly crack down on illegal stay, and we will continue to do our best to establish order of stay” said Han Dong-hoon, South Korean minister of justice.
