Pakistani Muslim woman accused of blasphemy because of wearing an Arabic calligraphic design dress that

the crowd mistook for verses from the Quran.

“At least 300 people has gathered yelling on her “take off your dress” and threatening to have her beheaded.”

The videos circulating on social media shows the chants of “Gustakh-e-Quran ki Ek hi saza, sar tan se Juda, sar tan se Juda”, which translates to “There is only one punishment for being blasphemous to Quran their

head separated from their torso.

Actually, the dress has the word "Halwa" printed in Arabic letters means ‘beautiful’ in Arabic.

A woman was being forced to apologize for wearing a long dress which has Arabic words like حلو "Halwa" said the Punjab police!!

ASP Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi of Pakistan’s Punjab police department saved a woman from a violent mob, covered her in a black robe and headscarf to escort her to safety.

Religious scholars later concluded that the text on her dress was not verses from the Quran, but rather Arabic calligraphy. 

The woman gave a public apology statement, “I didn’t have any such intention, it happened mistakenly. Still, I apologize for all that happened, and I’ll make sure it never happens again.” 

Blasphemy is punishable by death in Pakistan. Blasphemy law says that any “derogatory remarks, in respect of the Holy Prophet [Muhammad] either spoken or written, or by visible representation, or by any imputation, innuendo or insinuation, directly or indirectly shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable to fine”.

In 2022, a mob saw an "image of Prophet Muhammed" on a QR code of a soft drink bottle and threatened mayhem. 

Since 1990, 62 people have been murdered following blasphemy accusation.
