Total of 9 people, 2 city hall employees, 4 bank employees, and 3 hospital employees has lost their life in a traffic accident occurred at an intersection of the City Hall Station in Jung-gu, Seoul during the night time on July 1,2024.

According to the News 1 coverage on the 2nd, all nine people deceased in this accident were confirmed to be men.

Mr. Park (42), Mr. Lee (54), Mr. Lee (52), and Mr. Lee (52) died in the accident were employees of a commercial bank with a head office near City Hall Station.

Three people died at the scene and one other person suffered cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

One of deceased was promoted on the day of the accident and presumed of having sidewalk after having dinner with fellow employees to celebrate a promotion or other personnel appointment.

Immediately after the accident, the deceased were moved to the funeral hall of Yeongdeungpo Hospital, National Medical Center, and Sinchon Severance Hospital, respectively.

The dead bodies of the deceased will be handed over to the bereaved family as soon as identification will be completed.

on July 1 at 9:27pm, the Genesis vehicle driven by Mr. A (68) left a hotel near City Hall Station and drove backwards on Sejong-daero 18-gil (a four-lane road), which is a one-way street." according to the police and fire authorities.

It was found that Mr. A was not drunk at the time of the accident. 

Mr. A was also taken to the hospital with a rib fracture and is being investigated by the police.
