One man in his 40s died in a wall collapse during demolition work on a building in Seongho Market located in Sinheung-dong, Sujeong-gu, Seongnam at around 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to the fire authorities, the accident occurred on this day when part of the wall collapsed while cleaning up trash before demolition work on a single-story building.

The fire authorities were able to rescue the buried person at 4:40pm, about 2 hours after the accident but the man was pronounced dead.

At the time of the accident, two excavators and five workers were working at the site, and it is said that one worker inside the building was swept away along with the collapse.

Currently, the fire department is carrying out rescue work by deploying 14 excavators and other equipment and 42 firefighters. 

The Police and the fire authorities are going to investigate the exact cause of the accident.
