Newsnomics AJAY ANGELINA reporter | At least 5 people were killed and 37 others injured, in a noise-barrier tunnel fire along an expressway in Gwacheo in south of Seoul, on Thursday December 29, 2022 reported by the authorities.
“The three of the injured were in serious conditions while 34 others were slightly injured.” said the National Fire Agency in a statement..
Fire officials said the collision occurred inside a noise-barrier tunnel on the highway Expressway in Gwacheon that connects the western port city of Incheon to Seongnam City.
The findings says that the fire started after the bus, a freight truck collided with a bus on a highway and soon the fire spread to the tunnel, causing massive clouds of flames and smoke.
Earlier TV footage showed thick black plumes of smoke billowing from the tunnel, but fire officials said later they’ve almost put out the blaze.
A total of 94 fire trucks, 219 fire personnel and helicopters were sent to the scene, and the fire was completely extinguished at 4:12 p.m.
