Newsnomics AJAY ANGELINA reporter | The Ministry of Justice has produced and distributed a ‘Visa Navigator’ service, a ‘Customized Sojourn Guide’ in the form of an e-book, containing Korean visa information to support foreigners’ stay and settlement in Korea.
Various promotional channels such as the immigration call center 1345 and the Hi Korea website(www.hikorea.go.kr) operated by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea has been the useful tool to provide information on visas and sojourn to Koreans and foreigners. But the opinions says that foreigners and others found it inconvenient and were having difficulty to understand because of the complication of various kinds of visas.
Meanwhile, in October 2022, the Ministry of Justice produced and published an e-book format in Korean and English language to customize guidebook for Koreans. And efforts were made to resolve the inconvenience experienced by Koreans during their stay in Korea by distributing 5,000 copies in Korean, English, Chinese, Russian. It included types of visas for Koreans, major fields of employment, sojourn procedures for family members of Koreans, frequently asked questions, major counseling cases, various reporting obligations, and cases of major law violations.
Now 'Visa Navigator' provides information on types of visas (37), scope of employment, process from the time of stay to acquisition of permanent residence status, how to apply for civil complaints, frequently asked questions, major consultation cases, and various reporting obligations that foreigners must comply with in Korea. It is expected to serve as a compass for foreigners in the process of staying in Korea.
“The Ministry of Justice will continue to actively support foreign residents by diversifying information and promotion channels related to sojourn and visa to provide practical help in quickly adapting and settling into our society,” declared the authorities.
