Newsnomics AJAY ANGELINA reporter | At least 44 killed, and 157 injured in a strong bomb blast exploitation occurred at mosque in Police lines area, Peshawar, Pakistan on Monday January 30,2023.
According to the reports, the explosion took place nearly 1:40 pm at mosque in the police lines area after the Zuhr prayers. One side of the mosque collapsed due to the impact of the blast.
It is an emergency situation and injured are shifted to the city's Lady Reading hospital for the treatment. Still, many are suffering under the rubble.
Muhammad Ijaz Khan, chief of Peshawar police said in a televised statement that, “"Many policemen are
buried under the rubble," the capacity of the main hall of the mosque was nearly 300 and it was “nearly full”
at the time of the explosion.”
"Efforts are being made to get them out safely," he said.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said in a statement, "Terrorists want to create fear by targeting those who per-
form the duty of defending Pakistan."
“He also appealed the people for blood donations to secure the lives of victims in the terrorist attack at
Peshawar Mosque.”
The Police Line’s area of Peshawar is part of the city’s red zone which include the number of important government installations such as the Chief Minister House, Governor House, and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial assembly building.
