Newsnomics AJAY ANGELINA reporter | The foreign ministry of China has issued an emergency evacuation
notice late at night three days ago on February 11 to Chinese Citizens residing in Pakistan, which has
regarded China as its most trusty ally, drawing attention to the background.
“Pay close attention to the regional security situation, avoid visiting the places of gatherings and high-risk
areas, and abide by the ban on unnecessary outings and staying as Pakistan’s security situation is serious and complex,” said the Chinese foreign ministry on the same day.
“Immediately report to the police or contact the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan to ask for cooperation in case of any emergency.” The Ministry said.
China’s foreign ministry also notified not to enter Afghanistan for the time being, as it borders with Pakistan
and warned, “At present, the security situation in Afghanistan is becoming more serious and complex. Please
take strict security measures when going out and leave as soon as possible because parties may face very
high safety risks.”
Both evacuation warnings for the two countries were issued at 10:52 on beam, and specific facts other than
‘Security risks’ were specific.
Meanwhile, Pakistan accepted China’s One Belt, One Road (China-led ‘New Silk Road Strategy Initiative) project proposal and started the ‘Economic Corridor’ project in 2014 with an investment of $54 billion dollars (about 78 trillion won). Currently, it has a serious debt problem.
In addition, amid the worsening end of the 20-years war with the United States in Afghanistan, The USA
believes that Pakistani military intelligence agencies have helped the Taliban, and is wary of cooperation between Pakistan and China. It has been described as ‘one of the most dangerous countries in the world.’
In the early 2000, when the Taliban regime collapsed, Afghanistan, which had been hostile to China, officially
established diplomatic ties with China, opened an embassy, and the Afghan government participated in the
Belt and Road Initiative.
At the Sino-Arab Cooperation Forum held in Doha on May 12, 2015, China supported the territorial dispute
on the South China Sea, followed by an anti-terrorism cooperation system with China, Pakistan, Kazakhstan.
As China decided to provide military aid, China’s influence also grew, and As the United States began to dis-
tance itself from Afghanistan in April 2021, Us President Joe Biden officially announced a policy to withdraw all US troops stationed in Afghanistan by September 11 of that year.
Since then, concerns have been raised that the situation in Afghanistan could fall into an unknown chaos, and as part of the US-China competition for supremacy, China has shown moves to expand its influence by
actively supporting and intervening in Afghanistan.
