The Ministry of Justice will conduct joint government crackdowns with related ministries this year in order to strictly and consistently respond to the issue of illegal immigrants at the pan-governmental level by following the joint government crackdown on illegal immigrants that was resumed last year.
Han Dong-hoon, Minister of Justice said, "As this year is the first year to promote the five-year plan to reduce
illegal stay, we will do our best to establish order in residence through strict and intensive crackdowns."
The enforcement period of Korean government's joint crackdown on illegal immigrants will be implemented
from March 2, 2023 to April 30, 2023.
The joint crackdown on illegal immigrants will be proceeded by the 5 ministries including the Ministry of Justice (supervised), the National Police Agency, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Korea Coast Guard.
The Ministry of Justice clarifies to operate a regular joint crackdowns system on illegal immigrants once a quarter (four times a year), and will also conduct inspections and patrols in areas where foreigners are concen-trated. The Priority crackdown areas will be Businesses that encroach on people’s jobs, companies that regularly employ many illegal foreigners, illegal immigration/employment brokers, etc.
The ministry of justice said, “we will do our best to protect the human rights of foreigners by thoroughly observing due process in the crackdown process. If someone refuse to submit data without justifiable reasons, we will conduct a search and seizure.
“The strict measures will be taken against illegal immigrants being caught, such as deportation and entry bans,” Said the ministry.
