Newsnomics AJAY ANGELINA reporter | The world’s second-largest Ferris wheel called Seoul Ring is going to built in Seoul’s western district, along the Han River Seoul, South Korea, announced by the city government on Wednesday March 8,2023.
Seoul Ring, with a diameter of 180 meters, will be located at an Eco-themed park in Sangam-dong, offering
bird's-eye views of the capital city, according to the Seoul metropolitan government.
The Seoul Ring would be the second-largest Ferris wheel along the Han River, Seoul after Ain Dubai, one of
the world’s tallest and largest observation wheel situated across the water from the popular Jumeriah Beach
residences (JBR) beachfront that offers 360-degree views of the Urban skyline in a relaxing yet mesmerizing
38-minute journey.
This upcoming tourist attraction in Seoul could possibly attract over 3.5 million tourists every year on average, that can accommodate 1,747 people per hour and up to 11,792 people every day, according to the city government.
“The Seoul Ring project worths over 400 billion-won (US$304 million) is set to break ground in June 2025
with the goal of completion by December 2027,” said the officials.
The lower part of the Seoul ring will feature on exhibition hall about the park, which was Seoul’s waste landfill
in the past.
The city government aims to promote Seoul Ring, that will run on renewable energy, as a landmark that
symbolizes its Eco-friendly policy.
The spokeless wheel of Seoul Ring does not actually turn, instead each cabin or a pod is affixed to a gear,
which in turn circulates the circumference of the wheel.
