UAE president Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterates his commitment to maintain ‘stability’ and

‘unity’ in Pakistan according to UAE news agency WAM.

UAE President M. bin Zayed on Sunday had a telephonic conversation with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff

(COAS) General Asim Munir and assured of his country’s “commitment to supporting all that achieves unity

and stability” in Pakistan.”

President M. bin Zayed and General Asim Munir discussed the “enhancement of cooperation and joint work” between Abu Dhabi and Islamabad in “defense and military affairs, and ways to support and strengthen them to serve the mutual interests of both nations” as per the UAE news agency.

In response, Pakistan army chief presented his thanks and appreciation to president M. bin Zayed and “extended his wishes for UAE’s continuous development, progress, and prosperity”.

The enhancement of Cooperation between the two nations is the result of political and economic crisis in

Pakistan due to an ongoing feud between the present government and the rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), that became more critical after the illegal arrest of Imran Khan, the former prime minister and the chairman of PTI.

UAE is also supporting Pakistan to unlock the crucial International Monetary Fund (IMF) tranche to revive the Extended Fund Facility program.

In March and April, UAE, Saudi Arabia and China came forward to assist Pakistan with portion of payments

that would cover some of the funding deficit.

The military of Pakistan has not yet issued any statement about the telephonic conversation between the two leaders.
