'Biparjoy’, a large horrible cyclone that can cause destruction approached the northwestern coast of India and the southern coast of Pakistan, causing local emergency, such as evacuation orders for residents and bans on catching the fish.
‘Biparjoy’ is growing in power as it moves north from the Arabian Sea in the northern Indian Ocean according to India and Pakistan media on June13, 2023.
The cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ is predicted to move towards the state's coastline in the next two days that can cause landfall on Thursday afternoon between Mandvi in Gujarat and Karachi in Pakistan with a maximum sustained wind speed of 125 to 135 kilometers per hour (78 to 84 miles per hour) with gusts up to 150km/h (93mph), expected to reach the maximum speed of 200km, according to the officials of Pakistan and India.
On Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), “the cyclonic storm was likely to move northwards until 14 June and then move "north-northeastwards and cross Saurashtra towards Kutch and will join Pakistan coasts between Mandvi (Gujarat) and Karachi (Pakistan) by noon of 15 June".
The Pakistan metrological authorities begun efforts to evacuate more than 80,000 people in Sindh out of the path of an approaching extremely severe cyclone that could hit the southern parts of Sindh province and India’s Gujarat state.
In response, Gujarat, Indian authorities also issued evacuation orders and fishing bans to tens of thousands of residents near the coast. 21,000 fishing boats are anchored firmly in preparation for strong winds. Ship-related operations India's largest private port (Mundra) in the state of Gujarat, have also been suspended. Workers working on oil rigs in the Arabian Sea are also evacuated.
Pakistan, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said, “more than 80,000 people” at risk. We will not request people but demand them to evacuate.”

On another hand, the Indian authorities also dispatched the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to the affected areas to evacuate and rescue the nearby residents.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held an emergency meeting to check the situation in preparation for the cyclone.
In 1998, more than 4,000 people were killed when a Biparjoy, a horrible cyclone struck the state of Gujarat, India.
