Thailand illegal nationals have been apprehended for using and selling drugs (Yaba) in the foreigner-populated area in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, South Korea on July 18,2023.
‘Yaba’ users and sellers were apprehended in a joint crackdown conducted by the Gwangju Immigration and Foreigners Office, in collaboration with the West Sea Regional Coast Guard and the National Intelligence Service, investigated that “Thai illegal residents use drugs (yaba) and are selling drugs to other
Thai people.”
‘Yaba’ is a combination of methamphetamine (a powerful and addictive stimulant) and caffeine means crazy medicine in Thai, is produced in Southeast and East Asia.
During the joint crackdown, drug inhalation devices were confirmed at the scene and the above apprehended person admitted to the use and sale of drugs (Yaba).
Seohae Regional Maritime Police Agency is strictly investigating after an emergency arrest for violating the Narcotics Control Act.
The Gwangju Immigration Office provides a safe society for citizens and foreigners and said, “We plan to strictly deal with crimes such as drugs by illegal aliens in cooperation with related organizations.”
Han Dong-hoon, the minister of Justice said, “In the process of promoting a flexible foreign policy, Strong measures to prevent people from worrying about the spread of drugs through foreigners We will continue to crack down.”
