At least 30 killed and more than 90 injured after an Express train derailed in Pakistan on Sunday, reported by
the Pakistan Railways.
The Hazara Express train that was headed from Karachi to Havelian derailed near Sahari railway station of
Nawabshah town in the southern Sindh province of Pakistan.
Relief and rescue operations are underway, trying to free people from the twisted wreckage. While injured has been shifted to the nearby hospital and seriously injured passengers were transported to distant, better-equipped hospitals by using military helicopters.
The rescue crews took injured passengers to the People’s Hospital in Nawabshah” said Lakho, a person in
charge of railways in the area of accident.
The Videos circulating on social media showed dozens of people crying for help including Women, men and children at the site of the accident with some passengers climbing out of the overturned carriages.
Pakistan Railway Minister Saad Rafiq said, “the initial investigations showed the train was travelling at normal
speed. It could be the result of a mechanical fault or sabotage. We are trying to establish the reason that led
to the derailment.”
Pakistan Prime minister, Shahbaz Sharif expressed his grief over the incident and prayed, “We all pray, may
Allah grant a place in heaven to those who passed away and I wish quick recovery for the injured.”
The Sindh government has announced the support and help of 2~5 lakh rupees per person for the victims of the incident.
The Hazara Express is a daily passenger train that depart from the Karachi station in South and probably takes around 33 hours to reach Havelian in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, some 1,600 km (994 miles) North.
