Rizwana, a 14-year-old girl employed at civil judge's home in Islamabad was severely assaulted by the wife of Asim Hafeez, a civil Judge at the Federal Judicial Academy in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The initial medical reports of the victim prove 15 injuries on her body according to the Geo News.

Kamran Faisal, District police officer (DPO) at Sargodha city reported, the victims medical report confirmed 15 injuries including her head. Apart from the external injuries, some internal organs of the child were also affected.

Rizwana has been admitted to the General Hospital, Lahore in critical condition with serious injuries on her whole body on July 25,2023.

The parents first took the child to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) in Sargodha and later shifted to General Hospital in Lahore due to her critical condition.

Rizwana’s parents accused Somia Asim, the wife of civil judge for torturing their daughter and dropped her off to her mother in a “critical condition” residing in Sargodha city.

The parents alleged that “Rizwana was subjected to violence by Judges wife, Somia Asim who accused the girl of stealing jewelry first and then beaten her with the bat.”

“Rizwana, the victim girl bears visible signs of intense violence all over her body. Deep wounds on her body, face and head are the evident of severe torture, while her right arm was swollen”, the parents explained.

The victims’ parents explained that their daughter was employed at Civil judge’s house seven months ago with the help of a person named Mukhtar.

Asim Hafeez from Islamabad federal judicial academy admitted the hiring of 14 years girl as a maid at her house but denied of any violence on her. Instead, he made irrelevant statements by saying, the girl’s skin has been damaged because of eating sand from one of the plant pots, she hanged her head on the wall, was putting scarf and never complained about the injuries.

Asim Hafeez also posted at the Judicial Academy, “there was no violence against the girl.” 

“I am against violence,” he said, adding his wife’s gold was missing and she only handed over the girl to her mother as a punishment. He said there was no question of torure. 

“The mother herself has beaten the girl,” he alleged. 

According to the reports, a person Mukhtar, the suspect who facilitated the girl’s employment at the house of judge has been taken into custody by the police, and legal action will be taken against him in accordance with the law said the ASP city.

Somia Asim, the wife of Civil Judge Asim Hafeez was arrested on Monday August 7 for assaulting her 14 years old housemaid Rizwana after a district and sessions court in Islamabad dismissed her interim bail.

The decision came after the Rizwana’s violence report spread nationwide, triggered outrage and concern.

The social media users and celebrities raised their voices against torture, with slogan #JusticeForRizwana remaining in the top Twitter trends. 

Commenting on the incident, Chairperson of the Child Protection Bureau Sarah Ahmed stated that “the case

is an example of child trafficking in Pakistan.”

On the other hand, the United Nations has urged Pakistan to take strict action against such practices.
