Pakistan is celebrating its 76 years of independence today with patriotic zeal and fervor, giving heartful thanks and tribute to the struggle of forefathers and national heroes of the country in their quest for a separate homeland.
Pakistan’s Independence Day was begun with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and a 21-gun salute in the provincial headquarters.
Change of guard ceremonies were also held at Mazar-i-Quaid in Karachi and Mazar-i-Iqbal in Lahore city.
Pakistan’s flag hoisting ceremony was held at Convention Center in Islamabad with medleys and live cultural performances of artists and children at the completion of 76 years of independence attended by the President Dr Arif Alvi, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and former National Assembly speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf reported by Pakistan Radio.
Pakistan’s political leaders, including President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) President Asif Ali Zardari, and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, extended their heartfelt congratulations to the whole nation and demanded to struggle for the betterment of Pakistan.
Pakistan’s President Alvi called for Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s (the founder of Pakistan) message of “unity, faith and discipline” to be truly followed.
“He expressed confidence that Pakistan could become a developed country in a few years and highlighted the necessity of breaking free from nepotism, promoting meritocracy, and ensuring comprehensive justice, particularly in the socio-economic sphere, in order to progress.”
The former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif said, the “story of Pakistan has yet to reach its culmination.”
The former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, “let us commit to forging a Pakistan where the avenues to prosperity are open to all regardless of circumstances. A Pakistan where the aspirations of our youth are realized. A Pakistan where we are stronger for our diversity. A Pakistan for everyone.”
“God willing, we will move ahead with this ideology and defeat the politics of hatred and division,” the PPP chairman Vowed.
The Pakistan army vowed the nation to preserve and strengthen peace, societal harmony and unity among the nation.
The ISPR stated that “thousands of sons of [the] soil have laid down their lives for [the] defense of the mother
land and to preserve the cherished dream of freedom of our forefathers”.
All Pakistani nation celebrating the Independence Day pray for the peace, solidarity, and longevity of the country hoping for the end of turmoil with prosperity and success in the future.
Pakistan Independence day observed annually on August 14 commemorates the creation of sovereign state in the north-western regions of British India via partition following the termination of the British Raj in August of 1947
