Around eight in 10 foreigners residing in South Korea has showed their satisfaction with life here, showed the data of Statistics Korea on Wednesday.
According to the survey 2022 at analyzing the quality of life in Korea 40.8% of foreigners said they are "extremely satisfied" with life in Korea while another 39.6% responded they are" little satisfied."
Meanwhile, 19.7% of the 25,000 foreign residents responded that they had faced discrimination in the previous year.
The data showed that the discrimination level was "minor" in general with 37.6% of the foreigners explained they experienced discrimination at stores, restaurants and banks.
The other 34.1% experienced discrimination at workplaces, 32.2% at streets and neighborhood, 58% cited their foreign nationality as the main cause, 27.9% because of their Korean language skills and other 8.3% for their appearances as per Korea Statistics.
Another 43.3% mentioned the language barrier concerning difficulties settling in Korea, while 27.8% reported loneliness.
The number of foreign nationals residing in ROK for three months or longer has increased to 17.5 million in 2022, 6.2% or 102,379 higher than the previous year.
On the other Korea's own population has decreased to 0.3% or 148,000 year-on-year to 49.94 million in 2022.
