India will wait another 14 days to establish contact with Chandrayaan-3 with hope to get signals from the
(Vikram) lander and (Pragyan) rover said ISRO, an Indian Space Agency yesterday.
ISRO will continue attempts to revive the Chandrayaan-3 lander and rover till the next sunset on the Moon
which is slated October 6.
ISRO shared an update of receiving no signals from Chandrayaan-3 saying, “it made efforts to establish
communication with the Vikram lander and Pragyan rover to ascertain their wake-up condition, but as of now, no signals have been received from them.”
However, an Indian space agency added that “it would continue efforts to establish contact.”
However, S Somnath, the chief of ISRO mentioned that it is not certain when the contact with Chandrayaan-3 will be established.
Earlier, it was predicted that Chandrayaan-3’s lander and rover will be activated with the next sunrise on
September 22.
AS Kiran Kumar, the Former chief of ISRO said “the reawakening date was not given since night temperatures near the lunar south pole routinely plunge beyond -200 degrees Celsius and the batteries are not designed to operate or be stored at such extreme temperatures,” told the BBC.
Upon the successful soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the South Lunar pole, ISRO said if the lander (Vikram) and rover (Pragyan) do not wake up they would "forever stay on the Moon as “India's lunar ambassador".
