PAF, the Pakistan Air Force has inaugurated its 14-nation airbase exercise, Indus Shield 2023, at an operational base in the country bring together aviation experts from several Middle Eastern countries to stimulate the real-time scenarios and various combat missions, a key to enhance the experience and tactics of air and ground crews.
The 14 air forces including Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Egypt, Oman, Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Morocco, Uzbekistan, China, and Hungary has participated in the multinational airbase exercise.
The state-owned Associated Press of Pakistan reported that, “the exercise offers a unique opportunity for participating air forces to bring their unparalleled skills and operational capabilities to the spotlight. It also deepens mutual understanding between the participating contingents to promote interoperability.”
“In addition, the exercise offers an invaluable learning experience of aerial warfare employment tactics to the air and ground crew through simulation of real-time war scenarios and varied combat missions,” it added.
Air Vice Marshal Tariq Mehmood Ghazi, the air officer commanding, PAF Central Air Command as a chief guest in the inaugurating ceremony highlighted the importance of multinational air exercises in adapting to changing air warfare dynamics.
Marshal Tariq admired the arrangement of excellent major exercise which would strengthen partnerships among key allies and improve the international defense cooperation.
The Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force periodically organize and participate in international exercises to strengthen defense ties with other countries that provide an opportunity to the country’s military to showcase its capabilities and learn from the experiences and techniques of other nations.
