Terminal A, an anticipated to be a major aviation hub boasts an impressive capacity, can accommodate 79 aircraft at any given time and process 11,000 passengers per hour and over 40 million passengers annually.

The decision to rename Abu Dhabi airport is a tribute to the nation’s founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who has played pivotal roles as the president of the United Arab Emirates since its formation on December 2, 1971, as well as the ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi since 1966.

Last month, airport operator Abu Dhabi Airports announced all would be ready for its world premiere on November 1. After a certain Thomas Cruise Mapother IV took off earlier in June, and a select group of travelers boarded Etihad Airways’ inaugural commercial flight to New Delhi on October 31, the $3-billion terminal’s major services and facilities are now ready to receive its first passengers.
