An Indian plane made an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Pakistan after a passenger complained of low sugar level, The News reported on Wednesday.
According to aviation sources, the plane of a private airline SpiceJet’s flight SG 15 was flying from Ahmadabad, India and heading towards Dubai on Tuesday.
The sources said, an Indian plane took off from Ahmedabad at 8:38 pm. Right after 45 minutes of departure, Dhruv Dharimesh Kumar (Indian) aged 27 onboard became unconscious because of extremely low sugar levels while the plane was flying at an altitude of about 26,000 feet near Karachi, the city of Pakistan over the Arabian Sea.
The pilot contacted Karachi's Air Traffic Control, and asked for the emergency landing permission on humanitarian grounds. The permission was granted by Karachi Air Traffic and Boeing 737 plane landed safely at the air port around 9:20pm. Before Indian plane landing, a medical team from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) was present near the runway.
CCA doctors provided immediate medical assistance to the patient. When the passenger’s health became stabilized, the flight SG 15 departed from Karachi for Dubai at 11 pm.
The airline authorities and passengers thanked the Civil Aviation Medical team of Pakistan for their cooperation.
On October 14, another India-bound flight IX-192 of the Air India Express on its way from Dubai, UAE, to Amritsar, India, made an emergency landing at the Jinnah International Airport at 12:19 pm after an onboard passenger suffered with health issues. Once the plane landed, CAA provided medical assistance to the patient. Later, the plane took off from Karachi at 2:25 pm.
