An earthquake of 5.8 magnitude struck Islamabad and the surrounding areas at 3:19 on Monday 18 December 2023.
According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad, the epicenter of the quake was Doda District in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The earthquake tremors were felt at 3:19pm with the depth of 140 Kilometers.
Meanwhile, the tremors were also felt in other parts of the country including Samahni and Bhimbhar of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Peshawar.
No immediate casualties or damages have been reported.
Earlier, Pakistan’s National Center for Seismology (NCS)reported said:
"Earthquake of Magnitude:4.0, Occurred on 18-12-2023, 11:38:03 IST, Lat: 29.32 & Long: 70.12, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Pakistan," the NCS posted on X.
