An illegal Vietnamese resident who distributed drugs to foreign workers working with him was caught by the Jeonju Wansan Police and handed over to the prosecution.
Jeonju Wansan Police Station in Jeollabuk-do announced on the 1st that it had arrested and sent Mr. A, an illegal immigrant of Vietnamese nationality in his 30s, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
Mr. A is suspected of possessing or distributing cocaine, a narcotic, since last year until now.
Last December, the police received intelligence that foreigners were selling drugs at karaoke bars and have been tracking the distribution plan for eight months.
After identifying Mr. A, the police went for investigating and arrested him while working at a construction site on the 19th of last month.
Additionally, 87 grams of cocaine worth 35 million won (enough for 3,000 people) was confiscated in Daejeon, where Mr. A was living while avoiding police pursuit.
The police explained that Mr. A entered the country on a work visa in 2019 and had been distributing drugs to foreign workers working in Jeonbuk and Daejeon.
The police are investigating the quantity of drugs distributed by Mr. A, and are also tracking the supplier who gave the drugs to him.
A police official said, "We will do our best to eradicate drug criminals to prevent drug crimes, which are serious crimes, from taking root."
