On Wednesday ,approximately at 8:40 a.m., an accident occurred when a Kona EV running on the one-lane collided with the rear of a tank truck that was ahead on the road near Seo Pyeongtaek Interchange (IC) in the direction of Seoul on the West Coast Expressway in Poseung-eup, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do.
According to the reports, the Kona EV lost its balance due to the impact of the accident, stumbled, fell over toward the driver's seat, and came to a halt.
In this accident, the driver of the Kona EV, a woman in her 50s was injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
So far, it has been reported that there is no life-threatening condition.
Additionally, the traffic congestion occurred for about an hour as the police closed down two of the four lanes to handle the accident situation.
The police believe that the accident occurred when the tanker forcefully changed lanes from the second lane to the first lane.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
