A fire broke out in a 25-ton truck traveling 283.7km toward Seoul on the West Coast Expressway in Naegiri, Poseung-eup, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do at approximately 7:48 a.m. on August 7, 2024.
In this accident, the truck driver, a man in his 60s, suffered second-degree burns on the back of his hand reportedly.
It is reported that he was injured while attempting to extinguish the fire on his own.
The fire department dispatched 12 pieces of equipment and 36 personnel to the scene and completely extinguished the fire at approximately 8:19 a.m., about 30 minutes later after receiving the report.
During fire official’s work process, traffic in two of the four lanes was temporally blocked, causing traffic congestion for a while.
Police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of damage based on the driver's statement that "smoke came from the wheels."
