At least 2 workers dead and I injured as the up-bound inspection motor car and a track repair motor car collided at Guro Station Subway Line 1 in Seoul at 2:21 am on Friday.

According to the fire authorities and Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL), two workers, including one in his 30s died and one suffered a broken leg that was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

It was confirmed that all casualties were employees of KORAIL headquarters.

Reportedly, 10 electric cars and 5 high-speed trains were delayed for about 10 to 30 minutes due to accident control operations.

KORAIL and the police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor plans to review whether to apply the Serious Accident Punishment Act.

Last month, a man in his 60s has passed away who was working on fire safety work at Yangjae Station died around 3:40 pm on July 17. This man said to be collapsed while working on the ceiling around Exit 8 of Yangjae Station, Seoul. Immediately, an emergency team arrived at the scene, performed CPR, and has taken the victim to Gangnam Severance Hospital, where he eventually passed away. The Police believe it was not an electrocution and are investigating the exact cause of the accident.

On same day, a worker in his 50s electrocuted and died while was working of electric wiring in the Samgak area of Seoul at Subway Line 6.

Not only that, on June 9, a man in his 50s who was working at Yeonsinnae Station on Seoul Subway Line 3 was electrocuted while attaching color stickers to power cables in the electrical room.

The Seoul Transportation Corporation's labor union, after the incident urged the Ministry of Employment and Labor to conduct a strict investigation and prepare measures to prevent recurrence.

About 300 union members held a resolution meeting in front of the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Office on the 23rd of last month and said, "It has been more than a month since the accident occurred, but management has not apologized and no one is taking responsibility."

The government should take prior actions for the safety of the workers.
