On the 5th, a fire broke out in a two-story warehouse in Seokjeong-ri, Poseung-eup, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do at around 4 pm.
At that time, Chief Inspector Koo Ja-woong and Sergeant Kim Kwan-sik of Poseung Police Station Team 1 of Pyeongtaek Police Station, who received a request for a joint response from the fire department while on patrol, immediately turned their patrol car toward Seokjeong-ri.
The two people who arrived at the scene 6 minutes after receiving the report looked around the burning building to see if there was anyone who needed to be rescued.
then, they heard the voice of a boy sticking his face out the window from the second floor of the three-story warehouse, urgently shouting for help, saying, “Please help me.”
Inspector Koo and Sergeant Kim attempted to enter the building, but they were unable to enter because of the flames and smoke was spreading.
The two officers then told the screaming child, "Jump down quickly. The men will catch you from below, so trust us and jump down."
The child, encouraged by these words, jumped out the window, and Officer Koo and Officer Kim safely caught the child.
A person effected by the flames was taken to the hospital after inhaling smoke and is currently receiving outpatient treatment.
He suffered a sprain and other injuries to his leg, but his condition is not serious.
The Person’s family expressed their gratitude to the police.
A police officer said, "We calmed the frightened child down and made him jump out the window," and "We were able to find the best way to rescue people in an urgent situation."
Meanwhile, fire authorities investigated and reported that the fire was caused by electrical factors.
The rescued child was identified as the son of the warehouse owner studying in 6th grade of elementary school.
