Korea Years" that will open an ear of 30 million tourists to create $3bn dollars' worth in tourism revenue by
year 2027.
Prime Minister Han Duck-soo declared “Visit Korea year 2023-24 during a ceremony at HIKR Ground, the promotion hall of the Korea Tourism Organization, in Seoul on Dec. 12, 2022.
Park Bo Gyoon, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and KIM Jang-sil, the president of Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has announced “Top 100 Korean Tourism Attractions” as Korea’s representative tourist attractions for the coming years 2023-2024 on 6th anniversary of “Korea Tourism destinations.”
The Top 100 destinations include 61 cultural tourism resources such as historical sites, buildings, amusement facilities, and 39 natural tourism resources such as forests, seas, and wetlands located in metropolitan area, Gwangju, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gyeongsang, and Jeju regions.
On Wednesday, Kim Jang-Sil underscored the growing traveling needs concerning Korea and said “KTO will carry out an extensive campaign to promote tourism with K-culture content.”
"We will provide new traveling experiences for foreign travelers and expand their interests to Korea's classic arts, traditional culture and lifestyle," Kim said.
Through new policy improvement plans for 2023-24, an advisory meetings and discussions (forums) will be held to promote K. Culture, tourism and sport for the next two years, that aims the growing global popularity of Korean films, drama and music and meet the international fans' enthusiasm to experience Korea's popular culture.
The MCST and KTO plan to imprint Korea as a “Tourist Attractive Country” around the world by supporting diverse marketing programs for the “2023-2024 Korea Tourism 100.” The planned events include concerts featuring K-pop stars, the Incheon K-pop concert (INK), the One-Asia Festival and the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games.
As part of promoting the event, MCST will run PR pavilions in the “My country Travel Fair” and start pilot operation for the “Top 100 Korean Tourism Attractions 2023-2024”, while promotional videos will be broadcasted through various media that will promote Korean tourism to domestic and foreign tourists.
In particular, the Korean tourism virtual world (Metaverse) platform “Travel Hunter-K” will be utilized to support the young generation around the world to experience Korea’s natural and cultural resources in advance online.
In addition, maps of the “Top 100 Korean Tourism Attractions 2023-2-24” will be placed at tourist information centers and transportation hubs (airports, KTX) nationwide to facilitate the foreigners anywhere and anytime.
