법무부, 2025년 불법체류 외국인 특별 자진출국 제도 한시 시행
뉴스노믹스 전상천 기자 | 법무부는 1일부터 오는 2026년 2월28일까지 90일간 자진신고 후 출국하는 불법체류 외국인에게 범칙금을 면제하고, 입국규제를 유예하는 '불법체류 외국인 특별 자진출국 제도'를 본격 시행한다. 다만, 밀입국자나 위변조여권 행사자, 형사범, 출국명령 불이행 등 강제퇴거 대상자나 1일 이후 불법체류자는 이번 대상에서 제외된다. 법무부는 이날 기존 자진출국 기간에는 불법체류 외국인이 범칙금을 납부한 경우에만 입국규제를 유예하였으나, 이번 특별 자진출국 기간에는 범칙금을 납부하지 않아도 입국규제를 유예한다고 밝혔다. 또한, 법무부는 특별 자진출국 기간에도 단속을 실시하여, 적발된 외국인에 대해서는 강제퇴거 및 입국금지 조치 등 엄정하게 대처해 나갈 예정이라고 덧붙였다. 정성호 법무부장관은 “이번 제도는 불법체류 외국인들이 범칙금이나 입국규제에 대한 부담 없이 안심하고 본국으로 출국할 수 있도록 마련한 것으로, 많은 외국인들이 이 제도를 활용하기를 기대한다”라고 말했다.

뉴스노믹스 전상천 기자 | 법무부는 최근 과학·경제·문화·체육 등 다양한 분야에서 탁월한 능력을 보유한 우수인재 21명(특별귀화 13명, 국적회복 8명)에게 대한민국 국적을 부여키로 했다고 25일 밝혔다. 법무부(장관·정성호)는 지난 20일 국적심의위원회(위원장·법무부 이진수 차관)를 열고 이같이 결정했다. 우수인재의 특별귀화․국적회복 제도는 2011년부터 법무부가 미래 성장에 필요한 핵심인재를 국내에 유치하기 위하여 특정 분야에서 매우 우수한 능력을 갖추고 대한민국의 국익에 기여할 것으로 인정되는 외국인에게 대한민국 국적을 부여하는 제도다. 이날 특별귀화 허가를 받은 레자니아 샤하발딘(REZANIA SHAHABALDIN,이란) 세종대 환경융합공학과 부교수다. 레자니아 샤하발딘 교수는 세계 상위 2% 연구자 명단(스탠퍼드대학과 글로벌 학술정보 분석기관 앨스비어(Elsevier) 공동 발표)에 2020년부터 6년 연속 선정되었고, 2024년에는 세계 상위 1% 연구자료 인용된 연구자에도 선정됐다. 법무부는 "레자니아 샤하발딘가 향후 대한민국의 환경 에너지 분야 발전에 크게 기여할 것"으로 기대했다. 이처럼 법무부는 2025년에만 세 차례 국적심의위원회를 열어
